Just an Abominable Match?

    My story

Hi, my name is Huang liangxi and this is my story,

I could still recall the summer of ’98,

When I got my first ever jersey as a graduation gift from Dad

That was the most exciting period in my childhood,

’Coz the Brazil No.9 shirt gave me inspiration of playing better.

I liked playing with guys from higher grades, however,

They said I would be an outstanding goalkeeper rather than a common striker. Since then

Instead of running restlessly on the pitch,

I stood behind the defense line,

    Making our team impregnable.

It was Grade Three of senior middle school when I won my first title.

But that was my last glorious memory about football.

    After entering university,

All things changed even my position,

    Due to the awful turf.

I gave away my gloves and

    Became a free man,

    Which was once my dream.

    Good players were everywhere,

I realized that I was still a green hand.

I was given no chance and

    Free from any honor.

Of course I needed confidence and to be strengthened.

I’ve experienced the cloudiest days since I touched football.

More unfortunately I was injured not long before and

Required a long time for recovery.

Well, as everything runs counter to my willingness,

I can’t go in the opposite direction to myself.

    Things won’t automatically get better,

Nothing may change for you until you change yourself.

    Impossible is nothing.

Days with Soccer

Hi, I’m Gilbert Arenas and this is my story,
    When I entered the NBA,
the first 40 games of my career I sat on the bench.
They said I was gonna play zero minutes.
You know I just think they didn’t see the talent that I had.
They thought I was a zero.
Instead of sitting there being bitter, I just practiced, practiced.
If no one believes in you, anything you do is a positive.
It wasn’t even about basketball any more,
It was about proving them wrong,
Now the reason I wear No. 0 is because it lets me know that I need to go out there and fight every day.

Some Words from Gao Leilei

The Death of Hope

Gigi's Gift

    MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS OVER M.U.-YOUNGSTERS

(Currently on loan to Belgian side Royal Antwerp FC)

Red Nursery Rhyme:Gary Neville believes that Manchester United are stil one of the world's best nurseries for developing players - and that is something that Chelsea's multi-millions can never buy. The Reds skipper cited the emergence of 18-year-old centrehalf Jonny Evans as proof that the conveyor belt of young talent is still churning out the goods at United's million Academy at Carrington.
Neville has been one of the highest-profile successes of the youth policy that Sir Alex Ferguson resurrected, being a part of the 1992 FA Youth Cupwinning team which contained eight future internationals, and going on to make more than 500 appearances for the Reds. Since those days, the supply of voung players has slowed to a trickle. But Neville feels that few other clubs can match United's track record. "United are stil at the forefront," Neville said. "Ajax have always brought good young players through, and think that these are the two clubs people think of when it comes to producing young talent consistently. If you look at our squad in pre-season there have been six, seven, eight, nine young players that have come through that system. "No other team in the Premier League, let alone the top of the Premier League, will have that quantity of youngsters in their first-team squad."
Evans was just one of several youngsters who excited the United fans during pre-season games, along with the likes of Danny Simpson, Lee Martin and Darron Gibson. And Neville, along with manager Sir Alex Ferguson. picked out the Belfast lad as the cream of the crop. He said: "I saw Jonny play last season and played with him in the reserves once, and he just looks to have great potential."
The beauty of United, says Neville, is that Evans and the others will all be given their chance by a manager never afraid to blood youngsters. "Today's young United players are at the right club, and will get the chance if they prove good enough," he said. "And of all the players that have been released from the youth team here down the years, 1 can't think of manv that have not come back and played at the top level. The players who are here do get the chance, and if you are not quite Bood enough you move down the scale. The club doesn't make many mistakes in that respect."
Neville says that the youth policy at United has saved the club a fortune, and brings something that Chelsea cannot buy. "The great thing about it is that it brings a team spirit. I was playing with Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, David Beckham, John O'Kane, Keith Gillespie, Robbie Savage and Ben Thornley from the age of 13 or 14. "It becomes second nature when you start to play together full-time at 16. We knew Bach other inside out, and it creates a friendship and spirit that lasts to this day. We wanted to be football players and wanted to play for Manchester United, and we were very fortunate to be in the hands of verv Bood people. We all had good parents and schooling, but you are ultimately in the hands of your manager and coaches."
"You can get bad coaching, or a manager who doesn't want to give you a chance, and if that happens you are wasting your time. "We were willing to do the things that we had to do, but were also lucky to have good football 'parents' in Eric Harrison, Brian Kidd and Nobby Stiles, and then we had the boss giving us the opportunity to get into the first team. "We were lucky to come to a club which at the time had a system and a manager in place that wanted to project young players into the first team, and were willing to give us a chance. There is a risk involved, and the manager did take risks in bringing us in. But there are benefits as well, and we will be forever grateful to the manager for what happened to us."

    1. JONNY EVANS: the 18-year-old Belfast-born stopper is already a Nothern Ireland under-18 international and tipped by Sir Alex Ferguson to win a full cap in the next 18 months. Scored against Celtic in pre-season, impressed greatly in Amsterdam Tournament and now goes for six months with Royal Antwerp.

    2. LEE MARTIN: made his United debut in the Carling Cup against Barnet last season, and was in Wimbledon's first team at 16. The non-stop left-sided midfielder, now aged 19, figured in Amsterdam and against Celtic. He returned to Glasgow this week to spend a season on loan with Rangers.

    3. DANNY SIMPSON: quick, hard-tackling right back from Eccles who is tipped to push Gary Neville and Phil Bardsley hard for their places. The 19-year-old came on as a sub against Celtic, started against Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa and against Ajax, and will now play in Royal Antwerp for six months.

    4. FANGZUO DONG: United fans have had only a brief glimpse of the Chinese youth international, who has spent the last two seasons farmed out to Royal Antwerp, but scored the winner against Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa. Described as "strong, athletic and very quick" by Sir Alex Ferguson.

    5. DARRON GIBSON: the 18-year-old midfielder has only made fleeting appearances in pre-season but has impressed. The Republic of Ireland have called him into their Under-21 squad. Made United debut in Carling Cup victory over Barnet last year as a second-half substitute for Lee Martin.

    我的战靴 My Super Boots

    这双就是我的战靴>>>>NIKE Air Zoom 90III,购买于2005年3月.

    首先,感觉它外表凶悍,战斗力十足,比较适合我对足球鞋的审美观;
    其次,它足弓内侧部分触球面积比较大,适合我这种经常用足弓内侧传球的球员;
    然后,它运用了新型的人造复合材料,保证我每次对传球的力度和准确性的把握;
    再者,在它鞋垫的几个特殊部位,也就是我足部在跑动中对鞋底挤压比较频繁的部位比如脚后跟处,又加了一层防震缓冲垫,这种人性化的设计,不仅提高了它的减震缓冲性能,而且能对足部起到良好的保护作用;
    最后,它独特的鞋钉布局,使其减震和启动性能有了进一步的提高,对于我这种冲刺力比较强的球员来说,这意味着如虎添翼.

    在买这双鞋之前,我一直对ADIDAS的鞋比较钟爱,毕竟人家做足球鞋半个世纪以上了,而且ADIDAS足球鞋的控球能力确实不错.不管是"猎鹰"系列还是"F50"系列,都是很实用而且很好看的.以前对于NIKE的足球鞋不怎么关注,感觉他们的篮球鞋才是主打产品.而且NIKE的足球鞋也没有几款我觉得好看的."刺客"系列的我没有穿过,但是外表感觉不好看,没有杀气,"90"系列"长相"的还行.不过NIKE这几年在足球领域已经完全可以和ADIDAS叫板,甚至超过他们了.NIKE的球鞋也越来越多的被欧洲大牌球星选中,亨利和罗纳尔多就不说了,还有鲁尼,托雷斯等等.个人感觉这双鞋非常漂亮也很适合我,虽然已经是04下半年左右的旧款了,可一直没有换,甚至有再买一双一模一样的念头.唯一的缺憾是它在边路起球方面对我的帮助不大,这也与它的结构和鞋钉的排列有关.如果是"猎鹰"的或者"F50"的,起球的时候可能会自在许多.边路小飞侠罗本脚上穿的就是"F50"系列的,还有达夫也是,印象中边路球员中穿"90"系列的不多.
The Upper is made from soft, subtle ultralight KNG 75 synthetic leather and has a new asymetric interlacing system to give a superb fit.

The midsole has the Air Zoom unit in the heel which provides optimum cushioning and heel fit.

The Outsole has a lightweight TPU plate with a molded plate in the case of the firm ground boot and moulded multi directional plate in the case of the astro turf boot.

Mossbaaaaaaaaaaack Jia

ROAR SIGN CHINESE INTERNATIONAL STRIKER

QUEENSLAND Roar have completed the signing of 29-year-old Chinese international striker, Yuning Zhang.

A tall, strong (187cm, 83kg) centre forward who is known for his aerial prowess, Zhang completed his move from top Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai Shenhua late yesterday, the final day of the Hyundai A-League transfer window.

Zhang, who enjoys film star status in his homeland, has netted 9 goals in 15 appearances for the Chinese national team and scored over 60 goals in 160 appearances in China’s top division.

Speaking through his interpreter, Zhang said he was relishing the new challenge ahead of him.

“I am very excited about joining Queensland Roar and I’m looking forward to being part of the Hyundai A-League. This is my second time in Australia but my first time in Queensland and everything I’ve seen so far is very nice. The city is very beautiful and the Queensland Roar players, coaches and staff have all been very friendly towards me.

“I didn’t know too much about the Hyundai A-League until I spoke to my friend Shengqing Qu who was at Adelaide United last season. He said that it is a good league and encouraged me to consider it. From what I have seen at training the standard of play is very high,” he said.

Queensland enjoys a sister-state relationship with Shanghai, the home of Zhang’s last club. Queensland Government Minister of Sport, Mr Tom Barton, who was joined by the Chinese Consul General Madam Liu Fei, said the signing was an opportunity for Queensland Roar to forge even stronger ties in China.

“The State Government is thrilled that Queensland Roar have made this signing and there is no doubt that it will further strengthen cultural and sporting ties with China, particularly with our sister-state, Shanghai. We also hope that it will provide further inspiration and opportunities for Chinese youngsters in Queensland to take part in physical activity,” Mr Barton said.

For Roar Coach Miron Bleiberg Zhang provides further ammunition in attack.

“He is very strong in the air and has excellent ability. He will give us another dimension up front alongside the likes of Ante Milicic, Simon Lynch and Reinaldo, which will result in a very powerful forward line. We were always looking for another striker and when this opportunity to sign Yuning arose we decided it was too good an opportunity to miss,” Bleiberg said.

The Tight Schedule Came After The World Cup Final

Campione del mondo! Forza Buffon! Grazie Buffon!

Forza Buffon, Forza Italia, Merci Zizou, Merci France, Danke Deutschland, Danke Weltmeisterschaft!

Forza! Buona Fortuna!

    Germany 2006 - 32 teams, 32 stories

    FIFA
Germany 2006 will no doubt be remembered as the fans’ FIFA World Cup™. With millions of people attending public screenings of the event, the atmosphere in the host country was incredible, as people from all over the world took the official motto: ‘A time to make friends’ to heart.

On the pitch, 32 teams battled it out for football’s ultimate prize. Some bowed out after just three games, while France fell at the final hurdle as Italy claimed the crown of ‘world champions’, a description that will be used against their name for the next four years.

Here, FIFAworldcup.com reviews the performance of each individual team, according to how the competition ended

    The Winners:

    Italy
The Azzurri won the FIFA World Cup for the fourth time after holding their nerves in a dramatic penalty shoot-out. For their performances in the group stages, Round of 16, quarter-finals and semis, football fans all over the world would agree that Marcello Lippi's side were worthy winners of the competition.

    The Runners-Up:

    France
Inspired by Zinedine Zidane, until his dramatic sending off in the Final, Les Bleus surprised everyone to reach the showdown in Berlin on 9 July. Although they looked shaky in the group stages, it was in the knockout stages when they really came into their own, defeating Spain, Brazil and Portugal with relative ease.

    Third place:

    Germany
The highest scorers at the tournament captured the imagination of the public with a combination of fine football and a never-say-die attitude.

    Fourth place:

    Portugal
Luis Felipe Scolari’s outfit were arguably the surprise package of Germany 2006, overcoming Mexico, the Netherlands and England en route to the semi-finals.

    Quarter-Finalists:

    Argentina
After some great performances in the group stages and a victory over Mexico in the Round of 16, the Albiceleste were unlucky to lose to the hosts in a dramatic shoot-out.
    Brazil
The world champions’ attempt to secure their sixth FIFA World Cup success ended after a lacklustre showing against France. A tournament to forget for the Selecao.
    England
Unlucky with injuries, unlucky from the spot. Once again, penalties proved to be the undoing of England, who failed to live up to their high expectations at this event.
    Ukraine
Coached by Oleg Blokhin, the FIFA World Cup first-timers did extremely well in reaching the last eight, but found Italy too tough an opponent in Hamburg.

    Round of 16:

    Australia
Not expected to get past a group which included Brazil, Croatia and Japan, Dutch coach Guus Hiddink masterminded a magnificent showing by the Socceroos.
    Ecuador
Before the tournament began, it was claimed that the South Americans could not play well away from their home country. La Tricolor proved their doubters wrong.
    Ghana
As the only side from the continent to qualify for the Round of 16, Ghana were rightly described as the ‘Pride of Africa.’ Victories over the USA and the Czech Republic cemented this claim.
    Mexico
El Tri will be disappointed with their exit in the Round of 16, but the match against Argentina which saw them lose 2-1, will surely be remembered as one of the tournament’s best.
    Netherlands
After qualifying from what was thought to be the tournament’s toughest group, Marco van Basten’s men came up short against a well-organised Portugal side.
    Spain
Tipped by many to go far in the competition after disposing of Ukraine, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia with relative ease at the group stages, Spain fell at the very next hurdle.
    Sweden
Conceding two early goals in the first 12 minutes to Germany effectively ended the Swede’s hopes of progressing into the quarter-finals.
    Switzerland
The winners of Group G failed to convert any of their three penalties against Ukraine to see them exit the competition with an unwanted new FIFA World Cup record.

    Group Stages

    Angola
While not altogether unexpected, Angola's first-round elimination was down to a combination of inexperience and tactical limitations.
    Costa Rica
Costa Rica were hoping for big things in Germany, but the team which was considered to be one of the best in the country’s history, failed to get past the group stage.
    Cote d’Ivoire
The Elephants came with a lot of promise and although they fell at the first hurdle, they won many friends and admirers in their all-too-brief visit to Germany.
    Croatia
Soaring expectations back home thought that a clash with Italy in the Round of 16 was the team’s destiny. However, failure to take chances put paid to Croatia’s hopes.
    Czech Republic
They entered the FIFA World Cup as one of the highest ranked teams and got off to an impressive start. But the journey home came all too soon for the Czech Republic.
    Iran
Defeats to Mexico and Portugal in their opening games left Iran with no chance of advancing. The subsequent point claimed against Angola was no consolation at all.
    Japan
Two goals and a solitary point were all Japan had to show for their efforts at Germany 2006, the tournament which brought to an end Zico’s reign as coach.
    Korea Republic
Victory against Togo gave the Taeguk Warriors their first FIFA World Cup success on European soil, but it was not enough to book the team a place in the Round of 16.
    Paraguay
Paraguay returned home having picked up just three points from their three Group B encounters. Their hopes were ended by narrow defeats in their opening two matches.
    Poland
Poland and their fans are unlikely to harbour fond memories of Germany 2006, but a 2-1 win over Costa Rica in their final match did provide some consolation.
    Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia for their fourth consecutive appearance at the FIFA World Cup finals, and once again Sami Al Jaber weighed in with a goal.
    Serbia and Montenegro
The team that only conceded one goal in qualifying, to finish ahead of Spain, somehow ended up on the receiving end of ten in as many days in Germany.
    Togo
Having suffered three defeats in as many games, Togo bade farewell to Germany as the bottom team in Group G, with off-field issues contributing to their downfall.
    Trinidad and Tobago
Showing great determination and resolve to make up for their inexperience and lack of resources, T&T will look back on their two weeks in Germany as a success.
    Tunisia
Tunisia made history by becoming the first African side to record a win at Argentina 1978. Twenty-eight years on and three campaigns later they have yet to repeat the feat.
    USA
For a team that earned only a single point, thanks to a 1-1 draw with Italy, there is no shortage of things that could have gone better for this US squad.

Li Tie's transferring to Sheffield United

Sheffield United Football Club are a football club in The Football League. They were formed in Sheffield, England, in 1889. Their nickname is 'The Blades', which can be seen on the team emblem.

    Like their great local rivals,
Sheffield Wednesday F.C., Sheffield United began as a cricket club. It was formed in 1854 as the Sheffield United Cricket Club, but was a club without a team. The main task of the club was to manage the then new Bramall Lane sporting enclosure. Sheffield United was the first of the English League clubs to use United in its name (The first English football club to use United, Plymouth United F.C., no longer exists. It was formed in 1886 three years before Sheffield United launched its football team).

Sheffield United were a professional club almost from the start, and were admitted to the Football League in 1892. They currently play in the
Football League Championship, under manager Neil Warnock, at Bramall Lane, in Sharrow (just south of Sheffield city centre), wearing a strip of red and white striped shirts.

Like all clubs, Sheffield United have a great range of songs and chants sung by their fans, including the most notable: their unofficial anthem,
The Greasy Chip Butty Song, which is famous and recognised by many as one of the great football anthems. Sang to the tune of Annie's Song, a U.K. number one hit for John Denver in 1974. Another great anthem is the Na na na song, sung when United score a goal at home matches, the song has become highly popular throughout English football and other teams now do the same.

Sheffield United won the League in 1898 and the
FA Cup in 1899, 1902, 1915 and 1925. They were beaten finalists in the FA Cup in 1901 and 1936. Their best performance in the League Cup was reaching the semi finals in 2003.

The club has been involved in many notable firsts:
    • the first and to-date the only League club to score ten goals in an away fixture, versus Burslem Port Vale in 1892
    • in 1892-3 after a test match victory against Accrington they were the first team in the world to be promoted
    • United were involved in the first British radio commentary of a football match, versus Arsenal at Highbury in 1927
    • the club scored the first goal in the Premiership, Brian Deane scoring after 5 minutes v Manchester United in August 1992

    Li set to arrive

Li Tie's route to Bramall Lane has been cleared and he is expected to join the rest of the Blades squad for pre-season training next week.

The Chinese international, latterly with Everton, has agreed a deal with United to boost Neil Warnock's Premiership numbers. He signs on a free transfer on a two-year contract.

The documentation for the work permit is already in place, Tie is now awaiting a visa before making the trip from the Far East.

Boss Warnock says: "Li has come on as a subsitute in two Chinese international matches last month and is currently training with Chengdu Blades. We are looking forward to him joining in with pre-season training when his visa is in place."

Tie, 28, has almost 80 Chinese caps to his name and has played 34 times in the Premiership for Everton.

One man's medicine may be other's poison,一味的看着别人在前面跑自己又不想有效的办法去追赶是不正确的。

I am always here to love you!

Cheers and tears as Shearer bids farewell

One of the game's great careers came to a fitting end last night when Alan Shearer - part modern-day hero, part quintessential, old-fashioned centre-forward - bade a fond, final farewell to an adoring St James's Park.

So perfectly staged-managed was the Tyneside legend's testimonial match that Newcastle United were even awarded a highly dubious last-minute penalty and, with the score perfectly and predictably poised at 2-2, not even the torn knee ligament that forced his premature retirement could prevent the 35-year-old from entering the field to drill home the winner.

Opponents Celtic, whose vast, affable army of travelling fans make them the club of choice for such events, adhered graciously to the script, and Shearer, having wheeled for one last trademark, straight-arm celebration, was left uncharacteristically emotional at the remarkable show of affection afforded to him by a crowd of 52,275.

"Where else in the world would you get that?" he mused afterwards, his voice trembling. "I had more than one tear in my eye to be honest, but I defy anyone not to have a tear in their eye with an atmosphere like that."

Yet it's not only in Newcastle that they are wondering if they will see Shearer's like again, and no wonder. A cursory glance at the English Premier League's all-time scoring charts re-affirms, after all, that this was a peerless player, one whose tally of 260 top-flight goals leaves him fully 75 and 96 better off than his nearest rivals, Andy Cole and Thierry Henry respectively.

Many speculate, of course, that this mammoth tally would be even greater had Shearer not twice turned down Manchester United - first in 1992 to join Blackburn Rovers, then to make a British-record transfer to his hometown team - and yet Shearer remains adamant that, despite failing to lift silverware during his decade on Tyneside, he has never once regretted snubbing Sir Alex Ferguson.

"(Newcastle) will always be my club, it always has been," he said this week ahead of his testimonial, the proceeds of which are to benefit various charities. "I would just say - look at every kid in every playground in the North East and the joy they get when they score a goal. I'm exactly the same. This (St James's Park) has been my playground for the last 10 years."

Eriksson and Robson laud a legend
It is a source of irony and no small embarrassment on Tyneside that Shearer was rejected by Newcastle as a schoolboy, although, for all that the decision ultimately cost his boyhood heroes to the tune £15 million, the player himself appeared to benefit from beginning his career instead with south coast club Southampton. Certainly, it was there in 1988, at the age of 17 and just a month after his senior debut, that he smashed three goals past Arsenal to eclipse Jimmy Greaves as the youngest hat-trick scorer in English top-flight football and shatter a record that had stood for over three decades.

The goals never dried up thereafter, either for Southampton or for Blackburn, whom he joined for £3.6 million in 1992 and left four years later with a Premier League medal, having scored 130 goals in 170 appearances for the unfashionable Lancashire outfit.

After spurning Manchester United a second time, Shearer's reward was an 18,000-strong welcoming party at St James's Park and, though even his best efforts couldn't bring an end to the Toon Army's long wait for silverware, this season did witness the veteran striker surpass Newcastle legend Jackie Milburn's 49-year-old goalscoring record, with his 206th and final goal for the club securing a precious away victory over bitter North East rivals Sunderland.

With England, and despite retiring from international football while still in his prime, he came close to a goal every other game, scoring 30 times in 63 appearances to finish level with Nat Lofthouse and Tom Finney as the country's fifth-top all-time marksman.

It also said a great deal for Shearer's performances after departing the international scene in 2002 that, in the programme for his testimonial, England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson bemoaned the fact he had not been able to coax Newcastle's talismanic striker out of retirement.

"It is hard for anyone not to admire Alan Shearer," wrote the Swede. "He is a tremendous ambassador for the game of football. He is admired by his fellow professionals, and if any young player wants a role model or someone to learn from, then look no further."

Sir Bobby Robson, meanwhile - who revealed that he had unsuccessfully petitioned Barcelona to sign Shearer during his time in charge at the Camp Nou - was even more effusive in his praise of the player he later made captain while manager at St James's Park. "He had everything, on and off the field," enthused the former Newcastle and England manager. "Alan Shearer is up there with the best strikers this country has ever produced."

    What next?
Shearer is now reported to desire, and has certainly earned, a break from the beautiful game to devote some time both to his family and the local golf course. "One day I'd like a bash at management - I am doing my badges at the moment - but I want a few years off to enjoy life first," he insisted earlier this year.

Not for the first time, however, the 35-year-old's emotional ties to Newcastle may cloud the issue, particularly if - as appears likely - the Magpies follow through in appointing Glenn Roeder manager on a permanent basis. Shearer has, after all, been assisting Roeder during the former West Ham coach's period in caretaker charge and, though an ambassadorial role had originally been set aside, it appears the club's all-time leading goalscorer may yet assume a more hands-on position.

"He knows me very well, I know him very well and we trust each other," is all Shearer will say for the time being on his relationship with Roeder. Nevertheless, when he supplements this with the considerably less non-committal comment, "This my club and I want to stay involved," one would be forgiven for suspecting that last night's farewell might not have been so final after all.

The lowdown on the world's best

The quadrennial, month-long carnival that is the FIFA World Cup™ finals is not just about the football, just as football itself is so much more than just '22 hirelings kicking a leather ball', as was once famously suggested.

From the tens of thousands of visiting fans to the hard-working volunteers, many factors conspire to make the FIFA World Cup a spectacle without peer in the world of organised sport. However, one thing is certain: without the players, 736 footballers from 32 different nations spread over six continents, nothing else would really matter.

Whether they started their journey on bumpy Caribbean pitches or in the cathedrals of the European game, they come to Germany all in search of the same thing: glory, respect and a chance to lift the most-coveted prize in sport, the FIFA World Cup.
